The Sunyani West Municipal Chief Executive has inaugurated a 12-Member Health Committee for the Municipality.

Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, the Sunyani West Municipal Chief Executive has inaugurated a 12-Member Health Committee for the Municipality.
The committee is made up of the Municipal Director of Health Service, Representatives from the Municipal Assembly, Representatives of Christian and Muslim religious groups, Healthcare personnel and Traditional Authority representative.
The Committee among other things is to ensure quality health service for the people in the Municipality and advise the Municipal Director of Health Service in the performance of his functions as enshrined in section 23 of the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act,1996 (Act 552).
The Municipal Chief Executive in his inaugural speech said the National Health Policy in the country has sought to inspire community engagement in primary health care by bringing communities into partnership with service providers through community health committees.
According to him, engaging citizens and communities to make service accountable is vital to achieving health development goals.
To enable the Members perform their roles effectively, Mr. kusi Boadum said the Assembly would provide the necessary training to members of the committee.
He urged the members to play their roles diligently to ensure that the citizens access good health care.
The chairman of the committee, Hon. Martin Djan gave assurance that members would be committed to their work to help improve health service delivery in the Municipality.
