- PROFILE OF THE STATISTICAL DEPARTMENT
The Statistical Department aspires to provide reliable and responsive statistical services for good governance and development. The mission of the department is to harness, produce, and manage quality local-level statistics based on National Standards using competent staff for evidence-based decision-making in support of local and national development.
The technical structure of the Statistics Department is made of two distinct units:
- Field Operations Unit
- Data entry and analysis unit.
The unit has a head of department, one Assistant Statistician and three national service personnel.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT
- Collect, compile, analyze, publish, and disseminate demographic, health, and economic data on the district.
- Undertake monthly market readings on selected goods and services from designated market centers in the district and submit returns to the respective regional office of the Ghana Statistical Service for the computation of the following:
- Consumer Price Index (CPI)
- Producer Price Index (PPI) and
- Production Index (PI)
- Enhance the use of statistics for evidence-based decision-making.
- Harmonize the concepts, methods, and classifications used in the production of statistics at all levels systematize the collation of administrative data across sectors and geographical units.
- Reinforce the coordination of statistics generation, compilation, analysis, storage, archiving, and dissemination across MMDAs.
- Strengthen the capacity of statistical staff at the district levels.
- Engender statistical literacy among stakeholders.
- Maximize revenue generation and utilization.
