On Saturday, 4th October 2025, the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly (SWMA) organised a massive cleanup exercise at Fiapre as part of its continuous effort to promote a cleaner and healthier environment. The exercise brought together residents, Assembly staff, and community leaders who joined hands to clear drains, sweep streets, and properly dispose of waste.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kwasi Asante-Boateng (Esq.), participated actively in the exercise and commended the residents for their cooperation and commitment to maintaining a clean environment.
In his address, Hon. Asante-Boateng announced that the cleanup exercise will now be held monthly across all communities within the municipality. He emphasized the importance of cleanliness in preventing disease outbreaks and fostering a sense of civic responsibility among citizens.
He further urged all residents to make environmental sanitation a daily habit, adding that the Assembly remains dedicated to ensuring a clean, safe, and sustainable municipality for all.
The exercise formed part of the Assembly’s broader initiative to support His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s national agenda on cleanliness and environmental sustainability, under the National Sanitation Agenda, which seeks to make Ghana one of the cleanest countries in Africa.
