PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT CENTRE COMMISSIONED

A newly constructed Public Employment Centre has been commissioned at Odomase, the Sunyani West Municipal capital by the Minister for Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for the area.

The minister also launched the Ghana Labour Management Information System (GLMIS) which would be hosted at the Public Employment Centre.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Minister the said the Newly constructed Public Employment Centre is one way of positioning the Labour Department to enable it provide quality services to employers, jobseekers, and training institutions.  The centre also provide avenues for job seekers to enquire about availability of job vacancies, post their career profiles on the Ghana Labour Market Information System and interact with employers. 

It also provides the opportunity for jobseekers to access a wide range of labour market resources to enable them study emerging trends, acquire the skills in high demand and adjust their career paths to meet the demands of the world of work.

Mr. Baffour Awuah also presented a new Toyota Hillux pick-up vehicle to enable the Department organise outreach programmes, undertake job canvassing and engage other stakeholders for quality service delivery.

Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, the Municipal Chief Executive noted that the facility will provide jobseekers acquire skills required by employers which according to him is one of the ways to address unemployment.

On her part, Madam Justina Owusu Banahene, the Bono regional Minister the provision of the facility shows government commitment to address unemployment in the country and urged jobseekers to take advantage of the centre for Labour related and employment issues in the area.

She also urged the staff of the Department to owned the facility and ensure proper maintenance to help deal with the challenges of unemployment in the country.

She appealed the public to honour the government for its good works by renewing its mandate come December 7, general elections to continue doing more.

Nana Adonteng Opoku, Ankobeahene of Awua-Domase who chaired the programme expressed gratitude to MP for his good works in the area. He called on the public to appreciate his good works by voting massively for him and the NPP government. The MP later presented working tools to some artisans in the area to aide their work.
