46 persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in the Sunyani West Municipality have been supported by the Municipal Assembly to earn a living and to also enhance their livelihood with a sum of 96,440.00.
The support was in the area of income generation; 74,900 was allocated for 36 people, 7,500 was allocated for 3 people as medical assistance, 11,5540 was allocated for 7 people as educational support, and 2,500.00 was allocated to the Ghana National Association of the Deaf.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, disclosed that the Disability Fund was one of the social interventions that sought to improve the socio-economic life of people with disabilities.
He reminded the beneficiaries that the donations were to assist them to improve their well-being.
Madam Matilda Asante, Head of the Social Welfare and Community Development, urged the beneficiaries to take good care of what they have received and not sell them but to use them for the purpose of which they were intended. Adding that monitoring team would be detailed to ascertain how they would be using the items and the monies given them.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Assembly for the support.
