On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Bono Regional Police Commander, DCOP Yao Tetegah, paid a working visit to the Management of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Police and the Assembly.
During the engagement, which took place at the Assembly’s office, the Regional Commander explained that the visit aimed to familiarise himself with the Assembly’s leadership, assess the current security landscape within the Municipality, and explore ways to enhance cooperation between the two institutions to maintain peace and security in the area.
Welcoming the Commander and his entourage, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kwasi Asante-Boateng (ESQ), commended the Police Service for the crucial role it continues to play in protecting lives and property. He expressed the Assembly’s appreciation for the diligence and professionalism demonstrated by the Police in discharging their statutory mandate. He conveyed readiness on the part of the Assembly to deepen cooperation with the Police to enhance public safety.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss a range of issues of mutual concern. Issues highlighted included chieftaincy-related disputes in specific parts of the Municipality, recent incidents of armed robbery at Twumasikrom, the growing nuisance caused by stray cattle in certain communities, and persistent traffic congestion at Fiapre. Both sides acknowledged the need for a coordinated approach in addressing these emerging challenges.
DCOP Tetegah assured the MCE that the Police Intelligence Department would continue to work closely with the Sunyani West Municipal Command to identify and neutralise potential threats. He further indicated that regular patrol exercises have already commenced along the Nsoatre road, as part of measures to deter criminal activity. To strengthen the existing security measures, he appealed for the Assembly’s support in establishing a barrier post at Twumasikrom, noting that such a facility would serve as an effective deterrent to criminals operating in the area.
At the end of the deliberations, both the Bono Regional Police Command and the Management of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration, recognising that effective partnerships between state institutions remain essential to safeguarding peace and security within the Municipality.
