SUNYANI WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY CELEBRATES 39TH FARMERS DAY AT ADANTIA

On 1st December, 2023, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah and Hon. Evans Kusi Boadum celebrated the 39th Municipal farmers’ day of Sunyani West at KWATIRE-ADANTIA.

Among dignitaries who graced the occasion were Mr Gordon Domayele (Co-ordinating Director – Sunyani West Municipal Assembly), Alhaji Abubakar Sadique (NPP Sunyani West Constituency Chairman), Hon. Dr Joseph Adu-Mensah (President Member – Sunyani West Municipal Assembly), Mr Douglas Lebna (Agric Director- Sunyani West Municipal Assembly), Superintendent Eric Anaaba

(District Police Commander – Sunyani West) and Nananom in the Municipality.

In the brief address of Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah (Member of Parliament for Sunyani West Constituency), he informed the audience about the establishment of the TREE – CROP AUTHORITY by the government to take care of tree-crops like cashew, Mango, coconut etc, so that the investment of farmers wouldn’t go down the drain.

He reiterated the launching and implementation of the PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS PHASE II by the government. He admonished Agric Director and his staff that the policy should be free from any miss happenings.

He also informed the audience about the

MECHANIZATION FARMING POLICY by the government. He admonished the youth and Nananom to involve themselves in the policy when it commences, because the government was ready to pay for any acres of land given out by whoever for the implementation of the policy.

Hon. Evans Kusi Boadum addressing the audience, he appreciated the theme for the celebration, “delivering smart solution for sustainable food security and resilience” as appropriate forthcoming at the time the Government was making significant investment in agriculture, not only to provide food for local consumption but to also provide industrial raw materials for both export and local use to make the sector attractive to the youth in order to address unemployment.
