On the 23rd day of August, 2018, the Sunyani West District Assembly held its General Assembly meeting and elected a new presiding member for the assembly.

The context was between Mr. Oduro Takyi and Mr. Isaac Amankwaa Agyare. At the end of the voting, Mr. Oduro Takyi polled 40 votes and Mr. Isaac Amankwaa Agyare also polled 12 votes respectively. Finally Mr. Oduro Takyi with 40 votes emerged the winner as against 12 votes won by Mr. Amankwaa Agyare. The voting was supervised by the electoral commission to show it genuineness.
