On Monday, August 18 2025, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kwasi Asante-Boateng (Esq), had the privilege of participating in the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), a strategic programme aimed at enhancing and strengthening road infrastructure across the country.
The session, held in collaboration with district and regional coordinators, was led by the National DRIP Coordinator, Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye. In his remarks, Hon. Vanderpuye emphasised the critical role of local authorities in ensuring that all road improvement initiatives are sustainable, well-coordinated, and tailored to the unique challenges of each district.
The meeting highlighted key strategies that will help improve road infrastructure, with a particular focus on:
• effective collaboration between municipal assemblies and the Ministry of Roads and Highways;
• prioritising heavily trafficked and economically important roads;
• promoting regular maintenance to prevent deterioration of road networks; and
• ensuring rapid response to communities most affected by poor road conditions.

Speaking after the session, the Hon. MCE expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to participate and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to implementing the outlined strategies. He assured residents that the Municipality will continue to engage relevant stakeholders and work tirelessly to improve road conditions in all communities.
