Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, the Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani West has called on the residents of the Municipality to at least adopt a tree and make sure it grows to ensure the country and in particular the Sunyani West Municipality green and to also help address climate change issues in the country.
Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum made the call when he led staff and officers of the Assembly as well as other heads of development to launch this year’s Green Ghana project in the Municipality under the theme Mobilizing for a Greener Future.
He encouraged the citizenry not to only plant the trees but to nurture and monitor them in a manner to ensure the progress of these trees.
Planting the first tree at the forecourt of the new administrative block, the MCE noted the importance of the Green Ghana project by the government.
He used the opportunity to entreat all citizenry to replicate the initiative in their various communities to make it successful and sustainable.
The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Salifu Braima Andrews disclosed that the project aimed at planting 900 tree species within the municipality.
He admonished the residents to participate in the tree planting exercise to make for the loss of the country’s vegetation.
