THE THIRD ORDINARY MEETING OF THE SUNYANI WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

The Third Ordinary meeting of the Sunyani West Municipal has been held on Wednesday 18th December, 2024 to discuss issues laid before them gearing towards the development of the municipality. 

Mr. Patrick Tabiri, the presiding Member welcomed members to the days meeting and urged them to contribute immensely to the discussions of the day.

He expressed his gratitude to the members for their various played and joining forces to ensure violent free elections in the area. He also congratulated the members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for winning this year’s elections.

The Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum used the occasion to than Members for their support and collaboration throughout his tenure in office and appealed to them to look at the general interest of the municipality when time come for the confirmation of the new Chief Executive and not to drag issues.

Delivering his sessional address and the Executive committee report, Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, the Municipal Chief Executive said through the efforts of the Municipal security council, the Municipality had enjoyed with resident living peacefully. However, the most disturbing security is the menace of Fulani Herdsmen and their cattle which according to him, several   lives and properties which management did its best to ensure that their activities were put under control.

Infrastructural projects

The MCE mentioned that the completion of numerous projects in the Municipality during his tenure has brought some relief to the citizenry. He disclosed that with the advent of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), sixty-five kilometers has been covered in areas such as Odomase, Fiapre, Chiraa, Mantukwa and Domasua.

Construction of 1 No. 4 Unit Teachers quarters with a mechanized borehole at Baahsed, Nsoatre is ongoing, construction of 1 No. 4 unit workshop completed and handed over to Nsoatre Technical Institute.

Others include the construction of 1 No. 6 unit classroom block and 8-seater WC Toilet at Mantukwa, 1 No. 6 unit classroom block and 8-seater WC toilet at Kyem Amponsah, Fiapre, 2-bedroom semi-detached nurses’ quarters at Boffourkrom.

Social amenities such as drilling and mechanization of boreholes, construction of market stalls, etc.

Leap

The MCE stated that throughout his tenure, beneficiaries under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) received their grants promptly to help them live meaningful lives.  According the him, the beneficiaries made of a total of 1885 from 57 communities in the municipality received One thousand cedis each from the Dry-Spell cash-out.

Agriculture

Mr. Kusi Boadum reported that through government flagship programmes, farmers in the Municipality benefited from distribution of seedlings, agro-chemicals, farming inputs, among others.

He urged the Members to give maximum support and co-operation to his successor and continue to developed the Municipality.
