Mr. Andrews Mensah, the Bono Regional Chief Director (RCD) has paid a working visit to Management and Staff of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly.
The visit was to afford the chief director the opportunity to interact and familiarize with Management and staff of the Assembly.
The Municipal coordinating Director, Mr. Gordon Dormayele who welcomed the Chief Director and his entourage to the Assembly expressed gratitude for the visit and requested for such visits on regular basis.
Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, the Municipal Chief Executive in his remarks thanked the RCD for making time out to visit the Sunyani West Assembly. He wished him well throughout his stay in the region for the staff to enjoy his services.
In a brief presentation on the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly, Pln. Gladys Ali Bawiah, the Municipal planning Officer, disclosed that the Assembly is made up of 55 Honorable Members with 38 elected and 17 appointed and staff strength of 225.
On programmes and projects, the planning officer listed the following as the recent completed projects of the Assembly; 6-unit Teacher’s bungalow at Aduonya, Renovation of Circuit Court at Fiapre, construction of 1 No. 3unit classroom block with Ancillary facilities and supply of furniture at Kantro, Mechanization of 3 No. Boreholes at Ayakomaso, Mantukwa and Odoseman Senior High School and Construction of 1 No. 4unit workshop at Nsoatre Technical and Vocational Institute.
She mentioned that the Assembly is also benefiting from the following projects under the Social Investment Fund Projects (SIF) – Integrated Rural Development Project Phase II (IRDP II); Construction of 1 No. 6unit classroom bloc ta Kyem Amponsah SHS, construction of 1No. Teacher’s quarters at Baashed, construction of 1No. 6unit classroom block at Mantukwa Model primary, Construction of 1No. Nurse’s quarters at Boffourkrom and Construction of culvert at Nsoatre Afransum.
She enumerated the following as challenges facing the Assembly; Invasion of the Municipality by Alien Fulani herdsmen, Chieftaincy disputes, inadequate vehicles, inadequate office equipments and inadequate staff accommodation.
Addressing Management and Staff of the Assembly, Mr. Andrew Mensah said that mandate of the regional coordinating council is to monitor and evaluate the performance of the Assembly hence the visit.
He urged the staff to adhere to the protocols of the Local Government service and always be punctual to work and exhibit a high level of commitment to duty.
Mr. Andrews Mensah cautioned staff to desist from coming to work late, be punctual to work and work together as a team.
According to him, working together as a team enhances the capabilities of staff which gears towards the development of the Municipality.
The RCD used the opportunity to advised staff on unnecessary spending and plan for their future whilst active in the service.
